On 27 September I was diagnosed with SIBO and put on a 3-month treatment plan by my nutritionist, Tanya Borowski. It is called the Bi-Phasic Diet and was created by Dr. Nirala Jacobi of Australia. It was quite overwhelming to discover my new dietary limitations and I was instructed to follow the page 1 restricted diet for a week to 10 days.
I've spent these past 10 days journaling my thoughts and feelings; I've been really sad and confused at times but happy to report it is not the end of the world.
I wanted to start a blog that empathizes with those suffering with IBS, SIBO & other gastro disorders, as well as a community for us to relate to and repair our digestive & immune systems.
So for my first post: low & behold the summary of my 10 day restricted diet diary:

1 Light-headed & immediately craving carbs now that I know they are restricted. Really unsure of how to cook going forward. I woke up at 1:00am having really intense cravings for sugary cereal.
2 How am I going to get to Day 10; Waiting on some cookbooks to arrive for help. I’ve purchased Rebecca Coome’s SIBO Breakfast guide for some inspiration but I am really struggling with an all-protein breakfast. My normal morning routine has always been a light bowl of cereal and I am feeling nauseous having such a heavy morning meal of eggs and fish.
3 Feeling quite sad, hangry, anxious & extremely light-headed
4 This has been the hardest day so far; I woke up vomitting. All night I was experiencing really weird cramping and stomach pain. In the evening, I was finally feeling a tad better but I indulged in some proscuitto ... this caused really bad heartburn and indigestion for 5 hours in the evening. Now I know that I must also get rid of processed proteins! *More than likely, last night and today were due to SIBO ‘die-off’ as the bacteria is starting to starve.
5 Headache, immense fatigue, mild heartburn lingering from previous night. I am feeling really emotional and worried about how I am going to successfully beat SIBO.
6 I am finally feeling a bit better, thank goodness. Withdrawal symptoms have diminshed slightly. I made it to the gym so that I could do some light swimming and to spend some time in the steam room to get rid of the toxins.
7 I was a bit disappointed today because I was experiencing more die-off symptoms; my bloating came back slightly and in the afternoon I got very hot/nauseous and felt like I might experience an IBS episode.
8 I started having more ‘die-off’ symptoms, but was happy to successfully make a grain-free almond butter bread. This made me more hopeful and positive about the coming months.
9 Today was better.
